IMNO Conference To Address Patient Safety

The Irish Midwives and Nurses Organisation (IMNO) are to hold a conference today with a bid to promote patient safety in times of budget pressures.

It is the organisation’s belief that patient safety is being jepordised due to severe budget cuts in the health sector.

Meanwhile the IMNO say the situation is deteriorating with patients being left long periods of time without beds and care.

The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation will hold a major conference today in the Croke Park Conference Centre with the theme "Maintaining Safe Practice and Protecting Patient Care – The Challenge for Nursing/Midwifery and You".

It is understood that it will be attended by over 250 nurses and midwives from around the country. The purpose of this conference is to help members to maintain safe practice, protect patient care and recognise their accountability within the current climate.
