M50 Oil Spill Warning

Motorists in the Dublin area have been made aware of a Major oil spill.

Drivers are being urged by the Gardaí to take 'extreme care'

The oil spill occurred following a collision on the M50 this morning.

The incident happened on the northbound side 1km before the N4 Lucan exit.

Gardaí are at the scene.

Oil Slick Heading Toward Irish Coast
A huge oil slick off the Irish west coast is heading landwards, and could hit the shore in less than 16 days. The Department of Transport and Marine has revealed a spill of up to 1,000 tonnes of fuel oil is floating just 43 nautical miles south of the Fastnet lighthouse, and could hit the shore line in just over two weeks time.

Long Delays On M50 Following Accident
Motorists faced long delays on the M50 northbound in Dublin this morning, following a road crash. The crash happened at Tallaght and both lanes were blocked for time, but it is understood that the scene has now been cleared. AA Roadwatch had advised motorists to avoid the area if possible.

Garda Injured In Co Tipperary Attack
A Garda suffered minor injuries after being attack by a several men in Co Tipperary on Thursday night. The incident happened around 8:30pm, when the officer stopped a car between Clogheen and the Vee Valley. He was set upon by three men and attacked. It is believed that he was struck with an implement, which may have been an iron bar.

Deputy Michael Colreavy, Sinn Féin spokesperson on Communications, Energy and Natural Resources has called for job security for workers at Suttons Oil. Speaking on the issue Deputy Colreavy said: "Suttons Oil is a state owned oil distribution company, and a subsidiary of Bord na Mona.

Children Die In Longford Crash Tragedy
Two young girls have been killed in a road crash on the outskirts of Edgeworthstown in Co Longford. The collision happened around 9.30pm on Monday night. The girls, aged nine and six, were travelling in a black BMW that crashed into an embankment on the old N4 at Camlisk.
