Irish Man Attacks Australian Politician

A 28-year-old Irish man has been charged with aggravated assault following an attack on a politician in Australia.

NT Shadow Attorney-General John Elferink was in Darwn holding an anti-violence press conference when a man allegedly kicked him at around 2.30pm yesterday.

Mr Elferink tackled the man and tried to make a citizens arrest.

It is alleged two other men approached Mr Elferink and wrestled with him.

One of them has been charged with aggravated assault.

The Irish man has been released on bail and is to appear in court next month.

Man Charged Over Liverpool Attack On Irish Man
One of two men arrested on Sunday in connection with the assault of an Irish man in Liverpool has been charged, Merseyside Police have confirmed. 19-year-old Kyle Thompson, of Cockerell Street, Kirkdale, has been charged with assault and is due to appear today at Liverpool Magistrates' Court.

A missing 52-year-old man from Cork has been found 'safe and well', garda have reported. John Ryan was last seen in the Shanakiel area of Cork City on Wednesday, 24 May. However, Mr Ryan has now been located and no further action is required.

Missing Co Mayo Man Found 'Safe And Well'
Missing Co Mayo man, David Duffy, has been found safe and well, garda have reported. Garda had issued an appeal for help in tracing 36-year-old Mr Duffy, who had not been seen since Sunday. Garda have thanked the public for their help and said that no further action is needed.

Man Dies In Stabbing Incident
A 30-year-old has died and a second man has been injured in a stabbing incident in Tullamore, Co Offaly, shortly after 7am this morning. It is believed there had been an argument in a house in the area and a Polish man was killed. The other man's injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
