Woman Seriously Injured In Hit-And-Run
A woman has suffered serious injuries following a hit-and-run incident in Cobh, Co Cork.
The woman, who is 52-years-old, was out walking when she was hit by a vehicle which failed to stop. She was taken to Cork University Hospital where her condition has been described as serious.
The accident happened on Sunday morning (3 November) at approximately 8.30am on the Ballynoe Hill, Cobh, close to the junction of Ballynoe Hill and the Tay Road.
Gardai have asked for any witnesses or who may have been on the stretch of road between 8am and 8.45am to contact the Gardai in Cobh on 021 4908530, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.

A pensioner remains in a serious condition in hospital after he was hit by a vehicle in Waterford City yesterday. The 81-year-old man was struck by a 4a4 vehicle on the Cork Road at approximately 2.30pm. He is believed to be in a serious condition in Waterford Regional Hospital. Gardai are appealing for any witnesses to contact them.

The daughter is understood to have received minor injuries in the incident and was released from hospital following treatment.

Expulsion Of Cllr McCarthy Temporarily Lifted
Sinn Fein has temporarily lifted the expulsion of Cork Councillor Kieran McCarthy. Mr McCarthy was expelled from the party in June. Sinn Fein said this was to allow him a further opportunity to assist the party in its investigation of financial irregularities in the accounts of Cobh Cumann, which is on-going. Mr McCarthy denies any wrongdoing.
