Twilight Thursdays Back In Limerick On 25 June With Late-Night Line-Up
Limerick City and County Council is inviting locals and visitors to enjoy another lively evening in the city as Twilight Thursdays returns on Thursday 25 June, making the most of the long midsummer daylight.
Falling just after the summer solstice, the June edition offers a chance to experience Limerick late into the evening with a relaxed seasonal atmosphere. Staged on the last Thursday of each month, Twilight Thursdays forms part of Limerick's Night-Time Economy initiative, which brings together businesses, cultural organisations and community groups to create a welcoming city centre after dark.
This month's programme spans family-friendly activities, live entertainment and cultural experiences, encouraging people to stay longer, see more and discover the city in a different light.
The initiative also boosts local trade by driving footfall and offering opportunities for venues and retailers to connect with new and returning customers in an evening setting. The full programme is available at Limerick.ie/Twilight-Thursdays.
June highlights include:
- The Big Limerick Seisiún with Irish music and dancing at The Locke
- "Ten Years of The Limerick Lady" at No.1 Pery Square, celebrating Irish women
- Twilight Tales storytelling experience at the Hunt Museum
- Brazilian Festa Junina celebration and Samba drumming experiences in the city centre
- Family-friendly evening at Limerick Milk Market with entertainment, crafts and food
- Siege of Limerick 1691 historical walking tour departing from the Hunt Museum
- Ivory Elephant Twilight Market featuring artisan food, vintage and crafts
- Live music with Summer Nights on Shannon Street
- Arcade tournaments, trivia nights, interactive workshops and late-night escape room experiences
- A wide range of dining offers, drinks specials and late openings across bars, cafés and restaurants
- Late-night DJs, live music and club events across multiple city venues

Searches Launched Across Limerick City
Up to 20 searches are being carried out across Limerick City this morning, 26 April, as part of an operation targeting criminal activity. Gardaí launched the operation in the early hours of Tuesday morning and the operation is ongoing. One man, aged in his 20s, has been arrested under the provisions of Section 4 – Criminal Justice Act 1984.

Coroner Calls For Official Record Of Suicide Verdicts
Inquest verdicts of suicide should be officially recorded to help gather real statistics, the coroner for west Limerick has said. Currently, a coroner can only recommend a verdict of death in accordance with the medial evidence as given by a pathologist, west Limerick coroner and Senior Counsel Brendan Nix added.

Nine men have been arrested on suspicion of being members of the Real IRA following a series of early morning raids took place across Limerick city and county this morning, gardaí have confirmed. All nine are being detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act at five garda stations across Limerick.

Human remains found in Galway Bay on 29 November have been confirmed as those of missing Limerick woman, Maria Hennigar. The 35-year-old was reported missing on 22 November, although she had not been seen earlier that month.

An investigation has been launched following the discovery of a bone in Co Clare. A bone was found on Thursday, 22 September, on the Shannon riverbank at Doonass, Clonlara, on the Clare-Limerick border. Gardaí were called to the scene and are understood to have examined and photographed the scene before the bone was removed.
