Woman In Her 80s Dies After Monasterevin Truck Collision
Gardaí are seeking witnesses after a woman in her 80s died following a collision between a truck and a bicycle in Monasterevin, Co. Kildare.
The incident occurred on the R414 (Rathangan Road) at approximately 9.50am on Monday, 10 August 2026.
The female cyclist, aged in her 80s, was taken to the Mater Misericordiae Hospital in Dublin with serious injuries and was later pronounced deceased on Monday, 10 August 2026.
No other injuries were reported, and the road has since reopened.
Gardaí have renewed their appeal for anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward as the investigation continues.
Road users who were travelling on the R414 (Rathangan Road) – known locally as "Cow Pastures" – in Monasterevin between 9:15am and 10:15am on Monday, 10 August 2026, and who may have camera footage (including dash-cam), are asked to make it available to Gardaí.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Kildare Garda Station on (045) 527 730, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.

Three people are to appear in court today, Monday 12 October, following a €1.6m drugs seizure in Dublin. Gardaí searched a vehicle in the Conyingham Road area in Islandbridge on Saturday. A 45-year-old was arrested at the scene after a quantity of cocaine and heroin were discovered.

Four Men Dead In Separate Collisions
A total of four men have died in a spate of separate car collisions over the weekend. In the most recent incident, a motorcyclist collided with a pick-up truck towing a trailer, resulting in the death of the motorcyclist, a man in his late 20s. The collision which occurred at Cloghnadromin, Ballysimon, CoLimerick at approx 1.30pm on Sunday.

The single vehicle road accident happened at about 1am on Tuesday morning close to Brannigan's Cross on the Collon to Tinure Road. A 32-year-old man, the sole occupant of the car, suffered serious injuries when his car left the road and struck a ditch.
