Two Gardaí Injured After Stolen Car Hits Patrol Vehicle In The Ward
Two Gardaí officers have been treated in hospital after a stolen car struck a marked patrol vehicle during a managed containment operation in The Ward, Dublin 11.
Gardaí launched an investigation following a burglary and the unauthorised taking of a car in the Santry area on 10 August 2026.
Shortly before midnight on 11 August 2026, personnel from the DMR West Roads Policing Unit, along with Blanchardstown and Meath South Community Engagement, were involved in a related managed containment operation at The Ward, Dublin 11.
During the operation, the stolen vehicle collided with a marked patrol car. The occupants of the stolen car fled on foot. Two members of An Garda Síochána exited the patrol car and received assistance before being taken to hospital for treatment.
Both Garda members have since been released from hospital.
An Garda Síochána continues to provide welfare support to the members as they recuperate, and to their families. Investigations are ongoing.

A woman is being treated in Tallaght Hospital after being hit by a Gardaí patrol car in Dublin. It is understood that the woman was "seriously injured" in the collision, which happened in Clondalkin at about 11:30 on Thursday. The Garda Siochana Ombudsman Commission (GSOC) have been informed of the incident and have begun an investigation.

Specially Adapted Car Stolen In Lucan Recovered
A specially adapted car stolen in Lucan, Dublin, on Monday 25 April, has been recovered. Gardaí issued an appeal for information on Tuesday after the black Audi A6 was stolen from the owners driveway. It is understood no damage was caused the car when garda recovered it. Garda thanked the public for their help.

Woman Dies Following Road Accident
An elderly woman has died following a road traffic incident in Dublin. The victim, who was 75, was struck by a marked garda patrol car shortly before 11.30am on Thursday. The accident happened on the Fonthill Road in Clondalkin. She was taken to Tallaght Hospital, but later died from the injuries she sustained.
