Garda Anti-Corruption Investigation Leads To Dublin Court Appearance
An Garda Síochána’s Anti-Corruption Unit is investigating the activities of a specific Garda member based in the Dublin Region.
Since the inquiry began, one member of An Garda Síochána has been suspended from duty. A man in his 30s, who is a serving Garda, has been charged and is due to appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice, Court Number 2, this morning, Wednesday 19 August 2026.
As this is an ongoing criminal investigation, An Garda Síochána is making no further comment.

Man Fatally Stabbed In Dublin
A man has been arrested in connection with a fatal stabbing in Dublin in the early hours of this morning, 19 July. Garda responded to reports of an incident in Clinches Court, North Strand at about 4am this morning. When they arrived at the scene a man, aged in his 40s, was found with serious stab wounds.

Man Arrested In Connection With Death Of 64-Year-Old
Garda in Co Offaly have reported the arrest of a 19-year-old man in connection with the death of 64-year-old Thomas (Toddy) Dooley. The body of Mr Dooley was found at his home in Sister Senan Court, Edenderry, on 16 February. He had sustained injuries to his upper body and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 68-year-old property developer has been charged with wasting Garda time, after falsely claiming to have been abducted for eight months. Kevin McGeever was arrested on Tuesday evening at his home in Clontarf, Dublin and taken to Gort in Galway, where the investigation into his alleged disappearance has been based.

A dedicated garda unit is needed to tackle a "dramatic" spike in gun crime, Fianna Fáil Spokesperson on Justice Niall Collins has said. Deputy Collins made the call as gardaí investigate three separate gun attacks in West Dublin in as many days.
