Fine Gael Appeal For More Money For Road Safety
Following a series of road deaths over the weekend, Fine Gael's Road Safety spokesman has said more effort must be made to save lives.
Seven people died in crashes over the Bank Holiday weekend. Shane McEntee said any money spent in relation to road safety would be money well spent.
Two men killed in a motorbike crash in Lixnaw in Co. Kerry on Sunday were 36-year-old David Flynn from Bunagarha, Listowel and 19-year-old Owen McGillicuddy from Gurtinard, Listowel.
A man was also killed in a collision at Drimoleague in Co. Cork on Friday, he has been named as 38-year-old Peter Dukelow from Durrus, Bantry.
A male pedestrian killed in Durrow, Co Laois on Sunday has been named by Gardaí as 43-year-old Michael Walsh from Tully, Connemara, Co Galway.
Mr McEntee said: "All drivers must work to reduce the carnage on the roads."

Four Women Killed In Co Kildare Road Collision Named
Four young women who were killed in a road crash in Co Kildare on Tuesday night have been named. Ashling Middleton, 19, Niamh Doyle, 19, Gemma Nolan, 19 and Chermaine Carroll, 20, all died in the collision. The driver of the car, who is also 20, is currently being treated in Tallaght Hospital. She is suffering from serious injuries.

Four Dead During Weekend Car Carnage
Four people have been killed in separate road crashes over the Bank Holiday weekend. In County Wexford, a 20-year-old woman was killed in a hit-and-run incident on the Main Street in Gorey shortly after 2.30am on Saturday. Kelly Gregan was knocked down by a car, which then drove off and was later discovered burnt out nearby.

Gardaí have issued an appeal for witnesses to a fatal road traffic collision in Co Kildare. A 66-year-old man was fatally injured when a car he was driving collided with a truck at around 2.45pm at Kilmurray, Johnstown Bridge on Thursday, 10 November.

A man in his 20s has died following in a road traffic collision in Co Limerick. The crash occurred shortly after 2am on the R511, Fedamore - Limerick Road at Carnane on Tuesday, 04 October. The victim was killed when the car he was travelling in as a passenger left the road and struck a ditch. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
